Methodology
The Texas Mixed-Beverage Revenue Index tracks observed gross receipts reported under Texas mixed-beverage permits, statewide and by metro. Source data are the TABC mixed-beverage gross receipts published through the Texas Comptroller's open-data portal, joined to venue identities using taxpayer and location permit keys (the two-key join).
Each monthly value is the sum of observed mixed-beverage gross receipts for venues in the series' geography, normalized so that the 2019 monthly average equals 100. Metro series group counties (DFW, Houston, Austin, San Antonio; all remaining counties form Rest of Texas) and are normalized independently.
The state restates receipts; so do we. The full series is recomputed on each monthly refresh, and every published value carries its computation date. The index deliberately excludes inferred food revenue and venues without mixed-beverage licenses — it measures only what is observed.
